William D. Sproul
Dr. Sproul is one of the top experts in the world in the science and technology of thin film and coatings. He is extremely well known for his work in hard coatings -- particularly high-rate, ion-assisted, reactive sputter deposition of transition-metal nitrides and multi-layers. Dr. Sproul led the way in developing the ultimate sputter deposition system – a multi-cathode, closed magnetic field unbalanced magnetron system for high-rate reactive sputtering.
Dr. Sproul is in high demand as an invited speaker at international conferences, and he teaches courses on tribological coatings, sputter deposition, and reactive sputter deposition. Dr. Sproul received his doctorate degree from Brown University.
